Norway, Bingo 2 (Luders 1966), Henning Bull, KNS, 3-dnf-2 These three boats have actually never met in a race. Chaje is known to be fast in light winds, Bingo 2 is a good all-round boat and Laetitia maybe prefers stronger winds. So in the first race there was perfect weather for Chaje 3, second race gives strong wind to Laetitia and in the last race medium wind for Bingo 2. Chaje 3 wins the first race with a big margin, especially after the first leg it flies away with the spinnaker. Second race is very though. Bingo leads at the first rounding but Chaje passes Bingo with better spinnaker handling. On the second downwind leg the wind blows 28 knots. Chaje is in the lead and waits if Bingo 2 will set the spinnaker. Bingo 2 sets the spinnaker and so does Chaje 3. Chaje 3 is the only boat without the separate rudder and so it is very difficult to steer the boat in the big waves. Then comes a big broach but the crew handles the situation. Chaje 3 goes further with the spinnaker but then the old kevlar halliard is broken and the spinnaker comes down. Then we look back and see only one set of sails behind and that's Laetitia. Bingo 2 has lowered the sails because the tiller was broken. Finland wins, Holland is second and Norway retires. In the third race Bingo 2 leads at the first mark and Laetitia is second. On the next leg Chaje 3 passes Laetitia and is only one boat length behind Bingo 2 when the second beat begins. Just after rounding Bingo 2 has again tiller problems and both Chaje 3 and Laetitia passes her. Bingo 2 passes later Laetitia. Chaje 3 wins the third race and the Classic Cup second time. - Matti Muoniovaara
